The problem
The company coordinated hundreds of daily deliveries through a chain of shared spreadsheets and phone calls. Dispatchers had no live view of vehicle status, and drivers received routes as screenshots. Mistakes were expensive and hard to trace.
What we did
We ran a two-week discovery with dispatchers and drivers, mapped the real workflow, and prototyped a portal that put live job status at the centre.
- Design. A dispatcher console with a map, a queue and a driver roster, plus a stripped-down mobile view for drivers in the field.
- Build. A Next.js application backed by PostgreSQL, with WebSocket updates so status changes propagate in under a second.
- Cloud. Infrastructure as code on AWS, blue/green deploys and alerting on the metrics dispatchers actually care about.
The outcome
Dispatch turnaround dropped by 62%. The portal now handles every delivery the company runs, and their team ships changes to it weekly with our maintenance retainer.
